The husband and I decided to get crafty in the kitchen by infusing our own vodka with fall some of our favourite fall flavours: apples and cinnamon. This is our first time, we don’t really know what we’re doing but with a little help from google, we basically came up with these tips:
- Chop up 6 red apples and add to a large glass container with a lid, along with 3 sticks of cinnamon
- Pour in 750 ml of mid-range vodka (we used smirnoff)
- Let steep in a dark place at room temperature for 3 to 4 days (and a little longer if dealing with more subtle flavours)
- Strain (some sites even recommend straining through a coffee filter set in a mesh strainer)
We’re stuck on step 3 for another 48 hours so check back on Wednesday when we’ll get to step 4 and 5 and post the results of our experiment!
