Paul Bakery opened its flagship store near the Navy Memorial in Penn Quarter back in May, bringing a little bit of France (as well as perfectly crunchy artisanal breads and sweet pastries) to the District. For Halloween, Paul is putting a distinctively French Twist to the very American holiday and introducing the Paul pumpkin! Now we all know how much I love French Twists (and bread) so you can imagine how much fun I had nibbling on macarons while carving a Jacques-o’-lantern out of a 3 pound loaf of bread 😉 And the good news is you can get into the spirit of Paul-oween too!
For just $15, you and a child can attend one of PAUL’s two upcoming bread carving session, which will take place at the soon-to-be-opened Paul Bakery in Georgetown on October 29th (10AM-12PM and 1-3PM). I’m pretty sure a loaf of bread that size alone is probably worth $15 and once you’re done with your carving you can take it home and use it as table decoration! Or eat it 😉 At the end of the session, you’ll also get a bag with the crumb of the hallowed out loaf, which is perfect for making croutons, panzanella salad or even a pumpkin bread pudding. Miam! Details: Paul Bakery Georgetown will open in early November at 1078 Wisconsin Avenue, NW. Attending the Paul Pumpkin carving sessions means you get a sneak-peek into the brand new location before it opens to the general public! $15 per person + child includes a HUGE loaf of bread with the stencil to carve it out and all the proper tools as well as a drink and treat, which may or may not be one of the new delicious special Halloween treats they started rolling out in the penn Quarter bakery. The two sessions are October 29th between 10AM-12PM and 1-3PM.
